This one had a few moving parts, and that's exactly the kind of job we enjoy. The scope covered exit and emergency lighting installation, relocating an electrical panel out of a bathroom, running power under the sidewalks without bringing in costly boring equipment, and handling all the drywall work that came along with it. A lot of trades would have stopped at the electrical and handed the rest off. We took care of it all.
The panel relocation is worth talking about. Having a panel inside a bathroom is a code issue and just a bad setup in general. Getting it out of there meant opening the wall, pulling everything, and rerouting it to a proper location. Once that was done, we patched and mudded the drywall so the space could be finished cleanly. No loose ends, no calling in another crew.
Getting power under the sidewalk was the other challenge. The easy answer is to bring in boring equipment, which adds cost and time. Instead, we hand-trenched on both sides and pushed conduit through without disturbing the concrete at all. It's one of those situations where slowing down and thinking through the approach saves the customer real money.
The exit and emergency lighting went in at the main entry. These combo units - lit exit sign with built-in emergency heads on both sides - are required in commercial and public-facing spaces, and the placement here makes sense for coverage of the door. Getting them wired in cleanly on a decorative ceiling with ornate trim takes a little more care than a standard install, but the result is solid.
Jobs like this one are a good example of what it looks like when electrical work is done without creating a bigger mess than you started with. Buford and the surrounding area - we're here for the straightforward stuff and the ones that need a little more problem-solving.
